I'm watching Dateline's Royal Engagement special and can't help but wonder if you are also watching.. if so, I'm sure your husband is rolling his eyes!
Re: razamataz
hehe - yes, I was watching!! DH isn't home yet, so I can do so completely guilt-free.
Last night, however, Nightline, covered it and although DH had been out of the room, I called him in and we watched it together. He did sort of roll his eyes, but commented about pretty she was and we joked about various things. He understands to a degree, why American's are fascinated by it - he just thinks it all silly. But he thinks all things celebrity are silly.
Later, however, when he saw some random news blurb about DWTS and Bristol Palin, he started taunting me with "That is who American's have for royalty . . ." - and doing so in the most obnoxious snobby voice! He earned several squirts from the water bottle (cat deterrent) for that!

I'm annoyed I forgot to DVR it! I'll have to watch it online.
Did anyone else watch the whole interview that William and Kate did with British media?
Yes. I was very impressed by him, however Kate . . . she was obviously given talking points regarding how to address her employment history and stepping into Diana's shoes. I think the "It made me stronger" and "I know I was working hard" messages were repeated a bit too much. Plus she just spoke in circles and several times never finished a sentence! Her voice just trailed off and William had to finish up for her.
I understand she was nervous (who wouldn't be?!) and that she isn't used to this, but I had hoped she would have done better. It just seemed like she was trying to remember the answers she had rehearsed and ended up sounding a bit robotic. The answers that she gave more spontaneously were far more coherent and genuine.
Plus, I kept wanting to reach through the TV and push her hair out of her face!
I agree, raz, it was clear he's much more experienced with interviews and such, as he spoke in complete sentences. I felt for the Kate, as she was clearly nervous, but if they'd been prepping for the day for three weeks, you'd think the mock interviews would have prepared her a bit better. Poor thing.
And yes, her hair was definitely distracting. But boy do I love that dress.
Yes - the dress was beautiful - color, cut, everything! I am so envious of her wardrobe and her ability to wear things and look so good. Imagine what it will be like now that she can pick and choose from any designer . . . wow!
I kinda have a girl-crush on her simply because of her clothes . . . and pretty hair. Her overuse of eye-liner though (just like Diana), does bug me.
Good lord . . . I spend way too much time thinking about these things!
I loved all of Kate. From her beautiful shiny hair (which you know has to smell amazing), the dress.. the ring... her makeup (even the eyes! I love eyeliner and some might consider me to be one who overdoes the eyeliner/mascara...)...

Yes! That is it exactly. The liner seems to heavy for her eye shape and coloring. It needs to be lighter or finer tipped or, like you said, inner, not outer. Perhaps blended? Or maybe not black but brown??
Of course, I don't use liner - so really I don't know what I'm talking about. Something about the way it appears on her seems like it needs tweaking.
Anita - I'm sure you look maaaarvelous with your liner application and I would never dream of critiquing it!
. . . oh, the things that distract me from work . . . ;-)
I want an accent!! :-)
I had never heard her speak before and in my mind she sounded American. But DUH, of course she has an English accent. Her voice is deeper than I would have expected.
DH calls her uppercrust accent "plum in the throat" - and yes, it results in a deeper sounding voice. Very formal and stiff. From best I can tell, it involves very little jaw movement and the "voice" comes from the back of your throat (as if something - a plum - were stuck there). It is very much a "public school" accent and signifies wealth and/or status.
British accents are fascinating to me - I never would have thought that a person's accent could convey so much about them! I'm getting better at spotting regional accents on a broad scale, but I still have to ask DH to verify and sometimes even translate! (the Scottish and Northern/Yorkshire accents always throw me). He's really good at mimicking people, so it is fun to hear him give examples!
