Office Christmas Party

My office had its first Christmas Party last year.  I hosted it, and plan to again this year.  Last year, I did chili with different toppings and rice, meat/cheese/cracker tray, veggie tray, other apps, truffles, cookies.  Hot cider, coffee, beer, wine, etc for drinks.  We'll have about 20 people including some children.  Everyone says they liked last year and want to do it again, but I kinda don't want to do chili again.  Any suggestions for something that can be made in bulk to be served buffet style?  I was thinking about pasta, or maybe a taco/nacho bar.  I'm not really concerned about it being a holiday type meal.

I had a pasta party at home last year for a few friends and it turned out great. So there was variety, I made a few different sauces....meat (ground beef), sausage with peppers and onions and a chunky veggie/mushroom sauce, plus we had salad and garlic bread. The bread might be hard to bring in/keep hot for work though (unless you're lucky enough to live closeby OR have an oven at work). I had a snack tray with meats, cheeses, veggies and made a couple dips...french onion and ranch. I also made a cheese ball and spinach dip served with crackers and hot crab dip in a bread bowl with pieces of bread for dipping, mmm so good!

I say "Pasta Party" because it sounds like you definitely like entertaining/cooking and could do so much with it. They'll LOVE it! :o)

  • Oh sorry, for clarification....it will be after hours at my home.
  • I do like the different pasta option.  It's what I'm leaning toward I think.  Decisions, decisions....  haha
  • I would do a roast.  You can do it in the crockpot and just cut it and put it back in.  For sides you can do a baked potato bar and set up a station with all the fixings.

Oh that sounds good.  I think that would go over real well with this bunch too.
