Choosing Energy Provider

Hello ladies,

It's been a while since I posted and even then I know I never posted a whole lot but I can't think of anyone who could answer this question better than you. My husband and I are moving to a new apartment in Roanoke and we need to choose an energy provider. Neither of us has ever had to choose an electric company (our current place required the city company) and we have no idea what we're looking for. We are thinking 12-month fixed rate from either Gexa (a bit cheaper) or TXU (the one my parents have have their whole life). Can you help us out?

Re: Choosing Energy Provider

  • Check out the website powertochoose.org.  You can look for plans there based on cost, energy type (i.e. green or not), length of contract, etc.  We found a plan that beat our TXU cost by a lot and it's literally saving us a ton of moolah!

     Awesome! Thanks for the tip!

This.  We save a lot by changing power suppliers often to get low intro rates.  It's kind of a pain to change the direct deposit info, but we save a bundle!

  • I ran into the same situation.  I don't know if they provide for Roanoke, but APNA energy has a pretty decent flat rate.  I am paying a lot less than I use to anyway.  Don't go with TXU. You'll break the bank.
