Where to eat near the Aladdin Theater?

Jeff and I are going there on Saturday night, and we haven't been there before.

Re: Where to eat near the Aladdin Theater?

  • I don't know of anything that is right around the corner from there, but SE Division is pretty close by. You could go to Pok Pok, one of my favorite Thai places of all time. It gets pretty crowded on Saturdays though.

Lauro is a great place as well.

Or Vindalho, if you like a modern take on Indian food.

  • Thanks esther!  I'll check out the places you mentioned.  We love, love, love Thai so we might have a winner.

I just wasn't impressed with the Lamp's menu, or their suggestions for food in the area (Jack in a Box?  Subway?  Come on people, it's a date night, yo!).  It doesn't have to be within walking distance or anything.

  • Sorry for the double post.

Yea, Powell Blvd near the Aladdin doesn't have a lot of options, but the ones I mentioned are only a 5 minute drive from there so definitely doable. For a more casual meal with great beer, you could also check out Hopworks which is a bit further east on Powell. They have great pizza. But Pok Pok is my favorite! You do want to go early as it fills up quickly, esp. on the weekend. And check out Pix Patisserie for dessert if you have room ;)

  • We always just eat at The Lamp, since it is connected and has an entrance into the Aladdin and people eating in The Lamp get into the theater before anyone outside.. So if the show you're going to is GA, then I'd just eat at The Lamp to get good seats :)

Oh, I didn't know that.  I'm pretty sure the show is GA.  I'll find out!

  • If you go to Pok Pok, definetly try and make a reservation or get there early!  It's easily an hour wait at 6pm on a Saturday.  It was a 45 minute wait last Tuesday night.

  • Oh and also, La Carreta has good Mexican food, it's down McLoughlin at the intersection of Holgate and 17th, about a 5 minute drive from the Aladdin!

  • Oh, I love good Mexican too!  Our seats are GA, so I'll talk to Jeff and see what he says.
