I just found out that the pastor who married us has been diagnosed with very malignant colon cancer and doesn't have a lot of options. Basically, they can try to shrink the tumor to the point where it is operable, he can get a second opinion, or they can make him as comfortable as possible...
I am deeply saddened by this. He is a wonderful, joyful man who expressed openness and community. He is one of the many things that made our wedding (and our spiritual life thereafter) so special. His message brought me back to solid faith after a long period of doubt.
Please keep Father James, his family, and our parish in your thoughts and prayers. Even if you're not very religious, he is a kind, gentle man who needs support at this time.

T's and P's. It's always hard to deal with offering T's and P's for someone who you're used to offering T's and P's for you.
*hugs*
T&P's to all of you during this difficult time. I've also dealt with colon cancer (as well as many others) in my family and it never gets easier to hear someone else suffering from it.
I wanted to share that my great grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer when I was a baby. Her's was too far progressed by the time the doctors found it, and she had to have a colostomy bag her entire life, but she never regretted her decision. She lived to be 2 weeks shy of her 90th birthday. I have a handful of cancer survivors in my family, myself included. Have faith and be strong. It is a difficult road to travel down, but the support of all of those people, yourself included, will make a tremendous impact on Father James. More than you know.
