X-mas ipad accessory suggestions

I just got an ipad and was wondering if anyone had any good accessories that I should add to my x-mas list ... I already have a wireless keyboard and case for the ipad (not the case).  Anything else you would recommend???

TIA!

Re: X-mas ipad accessory suggestions

  • love my card reader adapter. When I travel & take the iPad I can still upload my photos on to it to blog with.
  • I've debated that.... but I don't blog so I am not sure I'd really use it much.  you still have to transfer all the pics to your computer too right?

  • Yeah, you still have to transfer them to your computer.
  • I also have the camera connector and find it useful for traveling. I never post from the iPad, but I take it when we travel as a netbook, e-reader, video player, etc. The camera connector makes it very easy to use the storage space on the iPad to back up our photos. That way if something unexpected happens (a camera or card is lost, damaged, or stolen), we don't lose our pictures. We figure we can always replace the electronics, but the photos themselves are worth more.

The connector is also handy for transferring files to the iPad. You can copy images and certain other types of files onto an SD card and then move them straight from there to the iPad without having to import them through iTunes or anything. I've heard from reviews that you can do a lot with the USB connector port as well, but I haven't really played with it yet.

if you don't have a screen protector yet, I definitely recommend that. I'd only had my iPad for a few weeks when we found it had gotten a tiny scratch. I had actually already ordered a screen protector, but it hadn't come yet. I ended up getting the InvisibleShield on Amazon and then took it to an InvisibleShield mall kiosk and paid them to install it. Glad I did, because it's such a big screen that it took the guy about four tries to get it on with no bubbles! And he does this all day as his job! I'm pretty sure I would have made a mess of it! The feel of the screen is definitely altered a little with the protective layer, but I got used to it, and the peace of mind is great.

For me personally, the next accessory I'm going to buy is a stylus. Living in a cold place, I wear gloves in the winter, and I can't use the touch screen without taking them off. I know that the stylus options aren't that great for regular use, but when it comes to just a few taps here and there, I think it will be a huge help. I can't even turn the page in iBooks without having an ungloved hand, and since I read while I wait outside for the train, my "page turning" hand starts to freeze!

  • after i read your post i realized where you live and wow yeah... i never thought of how the weather would change your ability to use it! I do have a screen cover (DH got one for me before he even gave it to me! very thoughtful!) I NEVER would have thought of a stylus though... I think I will ask for one of those! I think I am just going to ask for some Amazon and ibook gift card to download apps and books... there are a lot out there that i'd like but if i bought them all I'd go broke!

  • Re: Amazon gift cards, if there are books you want for the Kindle app, Amazon just announced that they now support giving Kindle books as gifts! If there are titles you want, that might be another option. (I'm really looking forward to this, since it means friends/family back in the States can buy me books without worrying about shipping or customs fees!)
