Pet Insurance Recs? Sorta XP

We have Everest on VPI right now and have been pretty happy with it, but now that we have 2 new additions we're wondering if there's a better insurance option for us?  They are all between 9 wks and 3 years old.

We've always thought about insurance for our pets but we've never done it.  Our plan initially was to just save however much money we would have paid for a pet insurance plan in a separate savings account each month.  That way the money would be there and accumulated if we ever needed it for something big or unexpected (regular vet bills are already budgeted for), but it hasn't just been . . . tossed away if we never ended up needing it.  Except we suck, and we've never actually saved that money. 

We've recently been thinking about checking into Pet's Best since the monstas are technically seniors.  : (  I'm pretty sure that's who ST uses, and who Pittieboo uses.  It's still hard for me to justify the expense, because financially we could handle random things that pop up - blockages, ACL surgeries, cancer.  It probably wouldn't be ideal financially, but I guess it's a risk we're willing to take?

I've looked into ASPCA insurance and they have some great plans that are very reasonable.  I compared them to a few different sites I found and they seem to have the best coverage.

I used to work at a clinic and we worked a lot with Pet Care pet insurance, predominately because we had the ability to submit claims online and it was real time processing while the patient was in the clinic. They were always really easy to work with. However not all pet insurance is equal, and by that I mean that different carriers offer different types of plans based on your pet needs. Are you looking for emergency coverage, cancer care, rental, elderly, preventative? The pet insurance underwriters have been able to offer plans for pet owners for your specific needs, and each carrier kind of has their own set. I would say to determine what you want in a pet insurance and then look for a carrier. You can call local clinics and see what they might recommend for the type of plan you desire. Pet insurance is relatively new, but it's not so new that no one in the pet care industry can't help you in your research to make an informed decision.

They are all very healthy, the only medical treatment they have had is our 3 year old cat for conjunctivitis about 2 years ago.The cats are domestic shorthairs, and Bueller is a boxer mix. So, I would say mostly emergency/accident and cancer as we don't have many routine vet visits needed. The pet insurance underwriters have been able to offer plans for pet owners for your specific needs, and each carrier kind of has their own set. I would say to determine what you want in a pet insurance and then look for a carrier. You can call local clinics and see what they might recommend for the type of plan you desire.
