Heather

How are you doing on your crafty hand made Christmas gifts so far for this year?

What are you planning to make and what have you completed so far?

Im working on a scrapbook for my brother (snapfish has been giving free prints over many months).  It wont be anything fancy using a cricut though.  Im waiting on another package from snapfish to come in the mail to finish that.

I have SO many more gifts to make.  Pine cone fire starters,  the scrapbook for my Dad, 3 crayon rolls, some embellished kitchen hand towels just off the top of my head.  And I want to make myself some pretty christmas/holiday throw pillows :)

Im still deciding if I want to do a super hero cape and the glass etched beer mugs.  (I have everything for it, but could save these gifts for next year or for birthdays).  Geez, this was a long post- sorry!

Re: Heather

  • I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I have started on all the projects, so I guess they are all half completed. Here is my list:

Educational book for the kids (8 to make). It is bound and one side has number and one side has shapes. I have everything cut out just have to put together.

A to Z Cupcake receipe book (10 to make). Each letter has a cupcake to go with it. Have the receipes printed and that is it.

Glitter ornaments (30 to make). Have the supplies

    Drawing books (4 to make)

    Burp clothes

Taggie blanket (may save this for birthday or later)

    Bib

    Onsie

Art project for DH (have 3 8x8 canvases to make). Have not started. I am making him one for football, one for hockey and one for the Colts

Christmas cards (90 to make). Have started working on it

Christmas ornaments for exchange. Have the materials and got to get started on it as I have to mail them after thanksgiving

    Cards for card cupids

Snowman soup (30 to make). May or may not do this. Depends on if I have time. It is fairly easy to do as it is just a hot chocolate pack, candy cane and mini marshmellows in a bag.

Would like to make a christmas table runner

I'm sure I am missing something (have it all written down at home).

As you can tell it is a lot and I got to get started on it.

Sounds like you have a long list too. Just take it one step at a time. I tell myself if I don't get everything done people won't know because they don't know I am making them something.

    Sorry for long post.

  • Oh I love that educational book, it looks so beautiful!!!

We should do a check in each week together :)  Maybe a pip of what we have finished...I know it will motivate me!

  • My goodness!!!! That's a lot of crafts, you put me to shame! I'm trying to think of a few things I can do so I don't have to buy as many gifts but I'm not very crafty!!

Let's. How about on Mondays? That way we would have the rest of the week and then the weekend and then on Monday we can check-in on what we did.

My goal this weekend and next week is:

to work on a card I have to have done by next Thursday

    finish christmas cards

    finish educational book

cut all pages for receipe book

start on a sewing project (and maybe even get them finished)

What is your goal this weekend and next week?

How about on Monday we can post what we got completed? I can't post my christmas card, but I can tell you if I got them done or not :)

You are crafty!! Baking is a craft IMO and you are great at that. How about baking? If I was on your christmas list I would love to get your baked goods.

You could do chocolate covered pretzels, choc. covered pretzel sticks (I made those last christmas and I think they liked them), cookies mix in a jar or even hot chocolate mix in a jar (you can google for receipes), batches of cookies, loafs of yummy bread, etc.

Don't forget to look the dollar store for cute containers to put the cookies in, bags to put little goodies in, containers for the bread, etc.

I would imagine baking is something you can do when L is asleep or even when she is awake some and A can watch her.

  • It's on!  This will definitely motivate me to get a bunch done this weekend!

My goal for the weekend and next week:

    Make 3 crayon rolls

    Finish a button monogram pillow

Scanning all of the documents, then putting the scrapbook albums together for my Dad.

    A few Christmas throw pillows

    Fabric basket liners

Not as much as your list, but the button pillow will take me hours.  Monday for check in sounds good to me.  Hopefully I can get a lot of this done this weekend, and add more to the list for next week :)

  • Yeah, that's my plan! I'm trying to figure out exactly what I want to make this year. And hopefully by Xmas time I won't be feeding so frequently so I'll be able to have more time to bake!
  • I am so jealous!  I would love to make Christmas gifts, but I know I would never get them finished!

I printed a ton of pictures of Chase for MIL, and I am just going to put them in an album, but not scrapbook them.

I made a bunch of Christmas cards last year, but I didn't get them done in time to mail, so I saved them for this year.  It won't be enough, but I have some store bought ones I can send too.

This is the time of year I totally wish I had a job that ended when I got home at night, so I could spend every night locked in my craft room.
