How crowded does it get? I'd like to take my sister, but can't convince DH to go if we're going to be packed like sardines.

Re: Zoo Lights
The "parking lot full" signs are always up during Zoo Lights. Your best bet is to park at Sunset Station and take the max there. It drops off right at the zoo and you won't have to deal with parking, etc.
Have fun!
I used to work there. It never gets packed to where you can't move (or at least it didn't when i worked there), but the parking is generally always full. Definitely take MAX, and I think there's an admission discount when you do that as well.
Make sure you take the train, too!

I don't remember what day we went last year but we went early (a little before it actually opened) and looked around the zoo a little bit and it wasn't crowded at first. We had seen everything before we started to feel crowded and even then, it wasn't bad.
We had a nice time but I gotta admit, I was expecting a little more. The train ride wasn't super spectacular. At least it's not super expensive, and it is very pretty.
