Check out this article about this weekend's Northwestern/Illinois game at Wrigley. Due to safety concerns, they're playing with one end zone.
I guess whichever team is on offense will use the "safe" end zone...this should be interesting.

Re: One end zone?
My feeling is, if you don't have room for a proper field with 2 end zones, don't play at Wrigley Field. Plain and simple.
Totally agree.
That said...I hadn't planned on watching that game until I read that article...ha!
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I'm not surprised. Most sporting events that take place at Wrigley are of a comical nature. (Oh SNAP!!) lol
Honestly, though, I wonder how they'll handle interceptions.
And I also wonder how big a deal this would have been if another local college (Notre Dame) didn't just have that accidental-yet-easily-preventable-sports-related death. Some sportstalk guys have already brought that up, applauding the Big 10 for being proactive about student safety in the light of that tragedy.

By the by, they've answered my "fumble" question. You'd run it back to the "unsafe" endzone, and then kick the extra point or have the next play take place in the "safe" endzone. (I probably could have guessed that.)
Also, I don't know if they're going to change this now, but BOTH teams were supposed to share a sideline. One team will have a huge advantage being closer to the red zone.
People are joking about some other "rules" for this game:
- Fumbled balls are dead on the ground and will be returned to the offense.
- You must yell "BLITZ!" before doing so, but can only do so once per four downs.
- All players are invited to Pete's house afterwards for Totino's Pizza Rolls

It is being televised, yes. (any Illini or NU games usually are in my area, but I do also think that ESPN-U picked it up.
One more question: What about fans that bought tickets for the unsafe endzone?! Lame!

I concur.
That's just stupid. I'll probably tune in for a few minutes, but I won't watch the entire game.
I wonder if they are going to have to count "1 Mississippi.....2 Mississippi......3 Mississippi" before they can blitz, like we did in grade school.
Will they have "do-overs"?
This thread makes me laugh.
I would have never watched a game between these two... but I'll be watching now.
Why play at Wrigley? Play somewhere else, FFS.
This exactly!
The owners of the Cubs are Northwestern alums. Yeah, I bet they don't have this bright idea again!
Also, did anyone watch College Game day from there? They said in the visitor locker room there are only 8 showers......do you draw straws to see when you go?
I saw that this morning! That's freaking ridiculous. I watched some of the game when I went to a friend's daughter's birthday party earlier...the mom's from Chicago and thought it was the dumbest idea ever.
Like... oh, I don't know, freaking SOLDIER FIELD?
