A compilation of some fave appetizer ideas to serve up this holiday season!
10 Holiday Appetizers to Whet Your Appetite
Last year I had a holiday party, we did pulled pork and brisket with mini potato rolls, crab dip, baked brie, hummus w/veggies, hmm, it's kind of hard to remember the rest
Other fav's are buffalo chicken dip, spinach/artichoke dip, bourbon wienies, sweet and sour meatballs, shrimp cocktail, spanikopitas, tampenade, pepper jelly over cream cheese
Mini Ham & Swiss Party Sandwiches (Pioneer Woman)
Hot Spinach Red Pepper Dip
I like mini sausages in good bbq sauce ( I always use local stuff)
Bacon wrapped shrimp (grilled)
Cream cheese filled Jalapenos
last year's menu
this years will include a baked ham, a mini salad served on an endive spear, a duo of pestos (parmesan-artichoke pesto and sundried tomato pesto served with french bread), and apple-honey-brie bites
Hmm...a cheeseball, spinach dip, crab dip, meatballs or prosciutto wrapped asparagus are some good ones. It really depends on what else you're serving.
Brie with slivered almonds and brown sugar and spice mix baked in pastry
rumaki (bacon wrapped waterchestnuts)
warm spinach, artichoke and paremesan dip with tortilla chips
mushroom, lemon and garlic bruschetta
shrimp and some type of special sauce for dipping
One of my fav's which is always well received and super easy to make:
1 tub or brick of cream cheese. Spread it around in a microwave safe dish. Top with apricot jam and sprinkle with some cayenne pepper and almond slivers.
Microwave for 2 minutes and voila! You have a sweet and spicy dip. Serve with crackers or chips!
Yum. Sounds great! thanks.
I've had great success with these:
Parmesan Asparagus Spears (soooo easy, but turn out looking fancy!): http://munnfunn.blogspot.com/2010/01/fab-dinner-party-part-1.html
Pecorino Romano with Fig Jam (yummy and fancy, not too hard to put together): http://munnfunn.blogspot.com/2010/01/pecorino-romano-with-fig-jam.html
Bacon wrapped scallops are the one that disappears fastest at my Christmas. Other faves:
Pineapple-pecan cheese spread (cream cheese, green onions, red or green pepper, crushed pineapple and pecans mixed up with a little garlic or seasoning salt) served with crackers
Sweet and sour meatballs
Shrimp cocktail
Taco dip and/or guacamole with tortilla chips
