Help me find a new job

What can a high school English teacher with a B.A. in English and a M.Ed. do other than teaching? The administration here and the teachers in other buildings are seriously making my life miserable. I won't be signing a contract for next year if things continue the way that they are, which is really too bad, considering I like my building and the students here.

But those of you who have left the teaching profession: what else can I do? Where can I find a job that offers benefits?

Sorry this is such a rambling email - it's been a bad day already, and I haven't even had to deal with students today.

What else do you like to do?

I would imagine that you could easily get a job doing something in a library that was a higher level position, and you might look into more of a "coach" type position within school districts-like being an academic coach, or reading specialist that goes to schools and helps with curriculum. Also, you could probably get a job directing/supervising at a daycare, after school program, tutoring place (I'm thinking Sylvan ish).?

I know the Beach museum there in KSU, and other museums as well, have programs where they tie in literature to art and create units for teachers to use, and they have people that help teach those units and go to schools for demonstrations. Something like that might be fun.

Have you thought about just switching schools or grades? I think I might try a different grade sometime soon.

How about a job at a college? Not sure what's available there, but it's just an idea.
