Where to buy furniture in PDX area?

Hi All,

I'm new to PDX and need recommendations on where to start hunting for a new couch.  We're not going the Ikea route, but can't afford anything too upscale/designerish!  Thanks in advance ;}

Re: Where to buy furniture in PDX area?

  • What's your budget and what kind of couch are you looking for?  On 82nd in Clackamas there's Ashley and La-Z-Boy, and Macy's Home Store (Clackamas Town Center) has furniture as well.  Closer in you could look at Shleifer and Fishel's.  Oh, and City Liquidators.  It's all crammed in and there's some bizarre stuff, but they also have the basics for a good price.  I don't know the west side so I'm not sure what's over there.
  • I highly recommend Pacific Lifestyle Furniture in Hillsboro.  They have great prices and lifetime warranties.  And most of their items are made in Oregon.

    Several of their pieces can also be customized, and they have a big selection of fabrics to choose from.

  • We got our couch at the Costco in Hillsboro, which has a ton of furniture.  We also looked at City Liquidators as well.

  • There's a Dania in Beaverton. Also, the Clackamas Macy's has a home store (more than a standard Macy's).

  • I was going to suggest Dania furniture as well. I love their modern styling and prices. Some things like dressers you still assemble yourself like IKEA but a lot of other things are really good quality. We got a leather couch where the two end seats recline for under $1k.
  • We've had great luck with Mor Furniture (several locations www.morfurniture.com)

    We also have had luck with digging around at City Liquidators

     Good Luck and happy shopping!

  • Oh, good call on Mor!  I don't know how I forgot about them.  We bought our bed there a year ago and love it.
  • Thanks everyone!

  • Honestly, we've bought almost all of our furniture off Craigslist, all of which originally was purchased from Crate and Barrel, West Elm and JD Madison (a high end store in the Pearl District). It might take some time to find what you're looking for but it's likely to be less expensive and more environmentally-friendly in that you're not creating the demand for new goods. Even after hiring professional furniture cleaners to clean our upholstered pieces, it was still less expensive than buying lesser quality new. Just a thought...
  • Craigslist IS brilliant, all of our current furniture was either off there or hand-me-down stuff...or free-on-side-of-road, I'm not above that ;}  I've done a lot of refinishing wood in my time.  Basically, we have always "made do" with our furniture, and now we're hoping to get to choose what we actually want, for a change ;}  Keeping my eye on Craigslist in case, but...
