Kindle Question - 3G?

This may be a very dumb question but I'm not at all techy. I want to get a Kindle but I'd like to know the difference between the Wifi version and the 3G/Wifi version. What does the 3G mean? Are you able to connect to the internet with the Wifi version or do you need the 3G?

TIA!

Re: Kindle Question - 3G?

  • A kindle with 3G will let you download books from "anywhere" there is cell service. It's like having 3g on a smart phone which allows you to email, facebook, etc, without a specific wireless signal.

So if you travel a lot, find yourself in places you can't connect to wifi easily or to a personal computer to get books, then get the 3G

But if you're not a big traveler, I'd say you are fine w/o it.
