Wedding Pic on Christmas Card

I just got married in October.  Our Thank You cards went out just a little while ago and included a wallet picture from the wedding.  Now I want to do Christmas cards but the only picture I can think of would be a wedding picture... What do you guys think... is that overkill?  If so, do you have any other suggestions?

Re: Wedding Pic on Christmas Card

  • I just got married in August so I was thinking of using a Wedding picture as well but the more and more I thought about and then when I did it in Shutterfly it just didn't look right to me. I finally decided to go with one of our engagement pictures because alot of people haven't seen all of them so that's what I would do if I were you :)
  • I had this same dilemma (we got married in May.) I decided to use a picture from our honeymoon, since most people haven't see those (and we look really cute!)

  • Those are both great ideas!  However, we didn't do engagement photos (5 month engagement) and unfortunately I don't think we have a good enough picture of the 2 of us on our honeymoon.  I have a card started with a wedding picture that I think looks really nice, I'm just don't want it to be too much.
  • I say go for it.  If you like it, do it.  It's your card.  :)

  • I did a wedding pic on our Christmas card last year.... I think it was just fine. If I were you I'd just find a wedding pose/picture that was completely diff. from what the one you did for your thank you's. Did you take a fun/goofy picture? put that in there!? Have any pets? add them to the card!

I don't think people are going to snub your card because you put a wedding picture on there even after one on a thank you card!

So true. I'm sure everyone hasn't seen all your wedding pictures. I'd go like the PP said and do a goofy/funny picture. Either way you go, I'm sure everyone would appreciate getting another wedding picture. Plus like a PP said, it is your card so do what you want to do with it :)

  • Thanks!!  Your input has been very helpful!
  • A few years ago we received a Christmas card from our friends who got married in the summer and the card had a wedding photo on it.  It was beautiful and we actually still have it hanging behind our bar.  The background of the card was more of a white, snowflake theme rather than a red and green theme.

  • I say go for it. We were married in October 2009, in our thank yous we included a photo magnet but we also did a wedding picture (different one) on our Christmas cards. It was a photo of us in front of the stained glass in the church and it just had a Christmas-y vibe. We had people tell us they liked it.

  • I'm not a fan of adding wedding pics, baby pics, grad pics to Christmas cards. They are unrelated and I personally would rather they stay that way. Just my opinion!
  • We got married the week before Christmas last year, so we used a wedding picture on the inside of our Christmas cards for this year, since it's been exactly a year. I found a great 2 picture card on Shutterfly and used a picture of a marble angel on the cover and the wedding picture of us on the inside. I think they look great, and so does everyone who has seen them. They're your Christmas cards, do what you want, since they are a way for people to remember your well wishes during the holidays. =)
  • I say go for it if you like the photo!  It's the thought that counts, and I'm sure your recipients are more than happy to hear from you and read your card's content!  And who says a Christmas card can only have one photo?  If you are indecisive, just design a card with a few photos on the cover including a wedding photo!
  • We were married in September, and we have chosen one wedding photo for our cards.  We also had a short engagement, so I am happy to get a little mileage out of our lone photo session!  I'm sure everyone will be happy to see you so happy.

  • We were married in October '09 and used 3 wedding pictures on our card last year.  I loved our pictures, and I don't see a problem with it.  We got lots of compliments.
