Christmas tree types

So what is every one's favorite? D and I are getting a live tree this year (for the first time in 15 years for me and first ever for D!) and I would like some suggestions on good types. I would prefer one that didn't loose needles and was "softer". I thought Douglas firs were supposed to be like this but I want to make for sure before we hit the tree farm this weekend!
No....click me!!!! Cause I'm the wedding bio! Bloggin it up! Prince Charming stole my heart and we rode off on his white horse... Re: Christmas tree types

  • No help here. Allergies keep us squarely in the fake tree camp.

  • We have a three foot tall fake tree. It came with lights too.

Sorry, no help. We stick with fake trees too. Much less maintenance.

  • We always had a real tree growing up, but I have no idea what kinds we bought. I was always partial to the softer needles too. I don't think it matters what type it is- you're going to be vacuuming pine needles out of your carpet for weeks afterward.

This year, DH and I are getting a full size artificial tree (no more 2 foot tall tree!). I love the smell of a real one, but I don't want to deal with the hassle.

  • we always had a real tree growing up, but I couldn't tell you what kind.  I think we probably went to the tree farm and my parents told the worker people what we wanted and they sent us in that general direction.  Sorry no help!

  • We always had real trees growing up and dh and I have always had a real one. We prefer the "fir" trees. Fraser firs are my favorite and I like Douglas firs also. The Colorado blue spruce are good if you have bigger, heavier ornaments but have more of a blue shade to them. Happy tree hunting! I think we are going this weekend also.
