Christmas tree types
So what is every one's favorite? D and I are getting a live tree this year (for the first time in 15 years for me and first ever for D!) and I would like some suggestions on good types. I would prefer one that didn't loose needles and was "softer". I thought Douglas firs were supposed to be like this but I want to make for sure before we hit the tree farm this weekend!

We have a three foot tall fake tree. It came with lights too.
Sorry, no help. We stick with fake trees too. Much less maintenance.
We always had a real tree growing up, but I have no idea what kinds we bought. I was always partial to the softer needles too. I don't think it matters what type it is- you're going to be vacuuming pine needles out of your carpet for weeks afterward.
This year, DH and I are getting a full size artificial tree (no more 2 foot tall tree!). I love the smell of a real one, but I don't want to deal with the hassle.
