Rebecca

We just got Campbell a learning table too! It was Christmas gift but I knew he'd love it now so we just gave it to him last week. He loves it!

How are you going to mash up the turkey? I've been wondering how to give him meat and Thanksgiving seems like the perfect time! Maybe I'll give him some of the sweet potatoes I made for him too (my version is still a little thick for him. Maybe I should mash it up more so he can eat it that day.)

Re: Rebecca

  • I don't exactly know how I'll mash up the turkey. We'll be at my sister's, and she has two kids so I figured I'd get a suggestion from her. Maybe use her Magic Bullet.

What's Campbell up to these days? Is he pulling himself up and sitting down on his own? I swear Jacob has turned into a different baby this past month now that he's upright and cruising, and we don't have to have our hands behind him in case he tumbles backwards. (there was a period when I think he tumbled backward 5 times in one day, then he was too scared to cruise again -- but he got over it in about a week and cruises better now)

  • :) Okay, glad I'm not the only one who isn't sure!

Yes! He's cruising. It happened like overnight. He can move all around the living room b/c it's pretty small so if something is an arms length away, he'll move all around. He has figured out how to inch his way down to the ground so he can sit himself down but it's not graceful of course. He generally goes to his knees first. We still aren't sure he knows how to sit himself up! If he's on his back, he usually rolls over to his belly and on to his knees then to standing.

We have his 9 month appointment on the 3rd so I'm anxious to see his weight. My mom thinks his legs have gotten a lot skinnier. I'm hoping its from the movement and that he hasn't lost weight or that he's not getting enough milk or something.

  • And, we're transitioning to the convertible car seat this weekend finally. I've gotta buy another one for my mom's car (although I think my dad is going to pay for it). He'll probably still use the infant one in Nick's car since he has a 2 door still (on the hunt still), it's easier.

  • Ha ha! I can picture him doing it. They're so cute when they move around and figure out how to go from back to knees to feet. :)  It's making me Jacob-sick here at work just thinking about it :(

Why are you switching to a convertible car seat so soon? I've noticed that people do it, but until Jacob's at the weight limit, I don't see the point (unless you can get a good deal on it for black friday or something!)  Enlighten me. :)

  • PS: what if you added BM or formula to his sweet potatoes? That would make the consistency a little easier for him.
  • Right around 3:00 every day I get pretty Campbell-sick :(

We're mainly just doing it 'cause he looks a tad squished and I can.not carry the infant car seat with him in it so I figure if I have to take him out to go in places he may as well have some extra room. It's been sitting in our living room for 2 weeks now waiting for us to put it in the car (we sat him in it and adjusted the straps and all) but we haven't done it I think b/c we're sad for the next step - lol.

I think I'll give that a try in thinning out his potatoes. I tried thinning it back when I first made them (6 months) and it was still much too thick but now that he's older I'll see if it is better. I'll have to throw them out soon if it doesn't work since 3 months is the recommended keep timeframe.

  • Jacob's note from daycare said that he didn't seem to like his sweet potatoes :( I think they're too thick for him, too, because he loves it from the store.

I hear you about the next step. Jacob was transferred to the next classroom at daycare, and even though we were a little bent out of shape that he wasn't transferred sooner (he was crawling all over at room that wasn't really meant to be crawled in), I was sad when a spot finally opened up.

Our little babies are all growned up!

  • Ladies, I always had to water down our sweet potatoes for Xander. I think they just naturally come out thick. Also you could just cut the turkey up into small pieces for the boys, their gums are hard enough to chew it. I hope you have a great turkey day with those boys

  • Thanks! I tried formula mixed in with the sweet potatoes this morning, but he still made a face and refused to open his mouth! It would've been cute if I wasn't on a mission :(  He got his way, though, and got oatmeal instead!
