Thanksgiving menu?

What is everyone having for Thanksgiving? What type of apps/snacks are you having. Anyone have any awesome recipes? I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year and I'm trying to make my menu.

I am kinda nervous, this is the first year I will have EVERYONE at my house.

Re: Thanksgiving menu?

  • *disclaimer, i am on my phone and don't know how to add breaks* i am making everything but the turkey. For apps: baked spinach artichoke dip and homemade hummus with chopped veggies and pitas. Sides: crockpot mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with sage butter breadcrumb topping, steamed veggies with butter herbs, stuffing, cranberry sauce. Dessert: apple crisp, sugar free cheesecake and pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. Id be happy to share any recipes once i get home:)

  • I would love the baked spinach artichoke dip recipe. That sounds really good. Can it be made ahead like on Wednesday instead of Thursday?
  • I bet you could mix it in advance, leave it in the fridge and then just pop in the oven thurs. What is your email?

  • We're going to GMILs this year.

I'm bringing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, mac and cheese, and spiced pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

Sweet potatoes are always done classic, boil 1 sweet potato per person put into a casserole dish hot, peeled and smashed, add a stick of butter (less if you have less than 10 sweet potatoes) add light brown sugar to taste  and top with a whole bag of mini marshmallows bake at 350 until the marshmallows are golden brown. YUM!

  • Appetizers are

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Stuffed-Celery-2/Detail.aspx  and this http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Holiday-Cranberry-Chutney/Detail.aspx  served over cream cheese with crackers, along with veggie and cheese and olive platter.

Then turkey with stuffing - MIL makes the stuffing, H won't let me make it unless I make it exactly her way, so I just have her make it.  Same goes for the sweet potato casserole. And she'll do the mashed potatos because mine aren't as good since I skimp on the butter and cream from guilt.

This is my side dish  http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Green-Bean-and-Mushroom-Medley/Detail.aspx with some yellow squash added at the end since it's on sale.  I also can't imagine Thanksgiving without coleslaw so I'll do that.

for desert http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Apple-Pie-by-Grandma-Ople/Detail.aspx  best apple pie recipe ever.  and traditional Libbys pumpkin pie.

And I'm making White Sangria Punch.  SUPAH excited!  I just finished it, it's marinating.  I chopped pineapple, nectarine, and apple and it's sitting with passion nectar, pinot grigio and Absolut Mango.  Also orange pineapple juice.  When it goes in the punch bowl Thursday I will add champagne.  Yum!
