Thanksgiving Plans/Traditions
What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving?
Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?
Re: Thanksgiving Plans/Traditions
What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? We are going to my parents' house in Maine for the weekend.
Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions? Dad cooks and the rest of us watch the parade, chat, and just hang out. Between 10:30 and 11 Dad starts making sombreros (kaluha and milk). We eat between 1 & 2. While dinner is being cleared and dessert is being brought out the guys (my dad, my brother (if he goes), and DH) load up Dad's truck with all their hunting gear. After dessert, the guys head off the the family hunting camp (literally a tar paper shack with no water, electricity, phone, or cell service in the middle of the woods of Maine). The girls stay home and eat left overs, watch Christmas Vacation Thanksgiving night. The rest of the weekend the girls visit family and hang out. They guys are at the camping drinking and hunting. They guys come home either Saturday or Sunday - depending on hunting and weather. DH and I head back home shortly after the guys get back from camp.
YAY!!! hopefully this does pick up the activity on this board!
For thanksgiving, we are having our family over our house for apps, dinner and desert. We just started this tradition last year since it was our first year being settled into our home. Before last year, the WHOLE family would go to my Aunt and Uncle's in Chappaqua, NY... this had been the tradition for 20 years or so. Now, they've sold that house and live part time on the jersey shore and part time in a condo in West Chester NY. Everyone has pretty much gone their separate ways so each family does their own thing. We're hoping to start the tradition of having my mom, stepdad, sisters and their fiances, over for dinner and football. On Friday, my sisters and DH go out and stand in lines with all the rest of the crazy folks at 4AM shopping for Black Friday.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody! My family doesn't have any Thanksgiving traditions, sadly ... this year, DH and I are seeing my family on Long Island -- dinner at a restaurant and possibly Harry Potter. When I'm back in CT, I definitely plan to make green bean casserole!
I don't really think we have any traditions other than to spend time with family over the holiday.
This year everyone is coming to our house (my MIL, FIL, two of my 3 BILS one of my SILs, 2 of my 5 nephews, my grandmother from MA- who we picked up today, and my older bro is flying up from FL as a last minute surprise). I'm cooking the turkey (pomegranite glazed recipe by Cat Cora), stuffing, pumpkin pie, and maybe an apple pie. My MIL is cooking everything else.
