J and I give homemade peppermint bark to our neighbors and landlord (lives kitty corner to us across the street) around Christmas time as a "I'm glad we're neighbors - Happy Holidays" gesture. Last year I noticed something peculiar: all the neighbors we give PB to have dogs. So a few months ago, I decided to make homemade doggie treats. I was discussing the idea with J and he said he liked the idea of including the pets in the gifting, but he was wondering if some would see the treats and worry about the ingredients and throw the treats out. I was thinking of including a list of ingredients I'm going to use so our neighbors know what's in the treats and that they're safe to eat.
WDYT? Is it a good idea? If a neighbor gave your dog (or even cat) treats with the ingredients written down, would you think it's weird or would you like it?
Re: Xmas neighbor gift - doggie treats?
We exchange doggie treats with some of our neighbors who also have dogs. None of us bother to write down the ingredients; we trust each other that we're giving them items only meant for dogs.
The dogs have no complaints.
I really like that idea! I may have to steal it from you!
We have B on a really strict diet but we're pretty lenient with treats. As long as they aren't Beggin Strips or something like we give them to her. I'm sure your neighbors will be happy to receive treats for their pups.
