Confessions/Vents/UO/AW's

Re: Confessions/Vents/UO/AW's

  • I confess that I've been looking at Target's 2-day sale ad instead of working this morning.

  • Dear Car Battery,

Thank you for losing your connections this morning, and making me look like an ass in the WaWa Parking Lot.

    Dear H,

Thank you for helping me this morning! <3

    ______________________________

Confession - I'm not looking foward to the holiday.  Why did I agree to cooking?  Hell, I don't even want to start holiday shopping (and I like shopping).  Just not in the mood this year.

Dear Far East Movement (Like a G6),

I'm somewhat dissapointed that you made me believe you wrote this song about a car (ahem...my car), I was sad when I found out it was about a plane.

  • Confession--I hate the holidays because of all the family drama. DH wants to spend as much time as possible at Christmas with his family, and I want to get in and get out. And once we get there, so will he. He has a horrible memory for how awful it is every year (physical altercation last Thanksgiving!).  And my mom turns into a mess and gets depressed because my brother and his family don't spend enough time with them, and we'll be out of town. She's always comparing time spent with each family and trying to make us all feel guilty. For instance, we're driving to see the ILs at Christmas, so it's a 5 day trek (2 driving, 3 being there). She complains we never spend 5 days at a time with them. BUT, we see my parents every month. We only see the IL's once a year. I have to tell her to add up all the time we see them so she can feel like she's "won".  It's stressful and I wish it all would go away!
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I'll confess that after the events of earlier this month that I'm secretly not minding being on the other side of the country from family tomorrow.  I have a gigantic family, including many infants (cute as anything but tough to see what we're missing) and well-meaning adults (who'd ask lovely questions such as, "When will we see you with a baby?")...a big gathering so soon would be a bit much.  I will miss seeing everybody though.

I also confess that I'm not looking forward to having to cook my two least favorite vegetables tomorrow (squash & carrots).  DH insisted that they were required of a TG meal...even one that will just be the two of us.  Just smelling either makes me gag.

  • Eww - I have 666 posts.  This should help :)
  • Confession - I did a happy dance in my mind when DH told me his family said they would be fine not seeing us until spring if we couldn't make it up due to winter weather.  We live in MN so winter weather can last through April - woohoo!

Confession - I am really excited to be cooking tomorrow and to celebrate with just the 3 of us.

ETA: I can't believe I almost forgot my AW.  BIL comes home from Iraq this morning! He has been gone for a year so we are really excited to have him home.

  • Another confession I've been wanting to get off my chest for a while:

I'm totally judging one of my closest friend's for stating that she was going to register for a fairly unnecessary big ticket baby item. The reason I'm judging? She has a 1 year old. She's essentially expecting a shower (if not more than 1) for her second child in 18 months. While I fully support the "sprinkle" idea for a second kiddo of a different gender, I find it tacky that she's full-on registering and clearly expecting a shower.

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I really wish I thought I was capable of doing Thanksgiving dinner in our new house, but I don't think I am ready for all that pressure, so we're going to MIL's. Guess I can consider than a loss for my 101 in 1001.

That is great news! My cousin will be home this year, too. He was in Iraq last year.

Confession - We have 5 (yes FIVE) places to go for Thanksgiving this year. My BSC coworker invited us to play Wii and eat pie instead. As crazy as she is, I really want to take her up on it.

  • Confession:  I am a huge klutz.  Last night, i slipped on a dryer sheet that was on the kitchen floor (thanks DH!) fell, and slammed my knee into the corner of the kitchen wall.  OHMYFUKINGGODTHATHURT.  It was like one of those I can't breathe hurts.  Thank goodness my knee seems to be OK, just a bit bruised.  Sometimes I think I need a rubber house to live in!

  • Ooh, I have a confession. You'll probably enjoy this since it's another in the dumb things mamie does while cooking.

I made pumpkin pie last night. I bought those frozen pie crusts. After I pulled it out of the oven I realized there were two crusts/aluminum pants stuck together. I'm not sure if my pie's bottom is baked enough, but oh well.

  • Oh Mames, that is great!

I had a bit more of a vent yesterday, I'm doing better today.  I found out yesterday around 10am that I was going to be cooking the full Thanksgiving feast, and then transporting it to IL's house.  I had to work a full day and no groceries had been done.  Luckily DH works from home so he was able to scoot out mid-morning to pick everything up.   I worked my tail off last night and got a lot done, so I'm feeling better this morning.  Still a bit frustrated that I have to transport everything, and also frustrated that both of DH's sisters are not helping, but it is what it is.  (Backstory - FIL had foot surgery last week and was just released home yesterday, so no plans were made).

I understand the circumstances and just hope the transport goes okay!

    Enjoy the day everyone!
