Jersey girl here with a ? about NY hospitals

Hi ladies. I know that NY hospitals have great reputations! I usually post more on the NJ board but had a question about NY hospitals, especially Memorial Sloan Kettering.

My father was diagnosed with Prostate cancer today so if anyone has experience with Memorial Sloan kettering or prostate cancer please PM me. I have some questions.

Thanks!! Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: Jersey girl here with a ? about NY hospitals

  • I don't have any direct experiences with SK or prostate cancer, however my best friend was diagnosed with appendix cancer in April (stage IV.) She was diagnosed in central ny, and they sent her to SK. It is definitely the "go to" place.

  • First, i'm sorry about your father's diagnosis. I don't have experience with either, but i've heard nothing but great things about MSK!! He'll be in good hands!!
  • SK is the way to go.  i have a friend who survived bone cancer, and goes there for all here follow-ups and whatnot.  she has nothing but good to say about them, and says she gets top notch care.

good luck, and best wishes for your dad.

  • I don't know anything about prostate cancer at Sloan, but I know many people who have gone there for all kinds of cancer and swear the doctors there saved their life. I also know a nurse who used to work there and she said it was one of the best hospitals she ever worked at.

Good luck and thoughts and prayers for you and your dad!
