Phones...tactile keyboards vs. touchscreen keyboards

Which do you prefer?  I'm due for a Verizon upgrade fairly soon and am trying to decide between the Blackberry Bold, HTC Incredible, and the Droid X (the new one that just came out)  Recommendations?  Thanks!

Re: Phones...tactile keyboards vs. touchscreen keyboards

  • Oops...I meant just the regular Droid, the new one...

  • I have an Impression, which has a slide out keyboard and a touch screen. Personally I use the keyboard a lot more than the touch screen. It also came in VERY handy when my touch screen stopped working! I could still at least make calls out with the keyboard, although I couldn't access my contacts or do text messages. But it was something at least until I got my phone replaced under warranty. If you have fingernails the keyboard is probably better for you...I have longish nails and I find it very difficult to use most touch screens.

  • I actually prefer the touchscreen keyboard over a normal keyboard.  I will add that I don't have any nails so that's not a problem but I do have fat fingers and have a hard time hitting only 1 key on a normal keyboard.
  • I generally prefer tactile keyboards, but my problem with them recently has been that they are generally slide out, and I feel like it's only a matter to time before they snap or break at the slid out part. I now have the HTC EVO (sprint) with a touch screen, which is amazing and really easy to use.
