Do you put out wine glasses for everyone at the table, even if you know they ABSOLUTELY will not need one? Like if they hate wine.

I wouldn't.  The holiday table can be so crowded, I'd welcome the extra couple inches of space.

I do, just to keep a uniform look.  But maybe that's just the perfectionist side in me.

Yes, I put it out.  That way they don't feel left out or on the spotlight if everyone else on the table has one.  Then when I offer drinks, they can choose to use their wine glass for it.  If they don't end up using it, I just take it away like they do in restaurants.

Nope.  I couldn't care less what proper table setting books say--that is a waste of a clean glass and the addition of unnecessary clutter.  I actually only set the table with a water goblet and offer all the proper glasses for wines, beers and cocktails at the bar.  People have their own drink preferences and don't need unused glasses cluttering up their place at the table.

I don't usually have assigned seats, so I'm not sure where the non-wine drinkers will be sitting.
