So my hospital is so understaffed

That after working Saturday, I'll have worked full time hours (32 is considered full time for our corporation) in 3 days. That's ridiculous, I'm going to die come Sunday. I have a 12.5-13 hour day Friday, and then a 9 hour day on Saturday, which will be on my feet with no breaks all day. Some days, I really hate being the manager. Those two days will fall into those "some days".

I have ladies out of town for the holidays, and one girl out with a dr's note because she's having issues with her gall bladder. I may die this week.

Mind you I typically work 40 hour weeks (I get 8 hours back for Thanksgiving) So I couldn't work today because if I had I would've gotten over time, and couldn't guarantee being able to work all day Saturday without getting over time, and I get paid too much to want to pay myself OT.

Thank goodness the Thanksgiving Day Parade is tomorrow!  Whoo!

My overly happy baby girl!

Wait, you pay yourself and you don't want to pay yourself more?! You're a loyal employee!

  • haha I guess that does sound a little silly... so let me explain.

With my position I get a chance to bonus every quarter. There's three parts to our bonus that I have to make my "goal" for in order to bonus. If I hit all three goals I get paid at least $2,000 if not more based on how much the hospital makes.

One of the areas to bonus is paraprofessional (staff that aren't Dr's) pay percentage. So in order to help ensure I make that one area, if I have to give OT I give it to the an employee who doesn't get paid very much. I would love the Over time, but I dont want to take it in case it's just that little bit that pushes me over and makes me lose the bonus.
