Having a sweet Saturday with my Husband, what to do and where to eat?

Since we do not have enough money, but also are enjoying the newlywed stage, we are staying here for thanksgiving. I am really happy to have my H for a 4 day weekend before he leaves to the UK for work on Monday. I want to enjoy this Saturday together by exploring Boston. Does anyone suggest things to do and where to eat for a sweeeeeet dinner...affordable ofcourse?

  • What a lovely way to spend the holiday! I live downtown and would really recommend exploring Quincy Market/Fanueil Hall for the day. There are tons of small shops (both indoors and out) as well as restaurants. The waterfront is also a nice walk.

My husband and I always find Charles Street in the evenings with all of the lights leading to the Commons, very romantic.  It's another neat area for window shopping and restaurants, varying from the very affordable to the upscale. Have fun!

  • I like MapleBean's suggestions (don't know if I've seen you on the board before, MB, so welcome by the way!).  Charles Street is adorable and there are a few restaurants there--I don't know if The King and I is still there, but it's affordable Thai.  Newbury Street is another option for window shopping, people watching, and there are tons of places to eat there, from chains to expensive higher-end fare.

    Have a great weekend!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

I totally agree! The King and I is a great restaurant and is still serving. My DH orders from there weekly!

Thanks for the welcome as well!

  • Charles Street and Newbury Street are both great place to walk around. South End has some great little shops and restaurants.

SO and I love Stella and Gallows, both on Washington Street in the South End.They are both great, local restaurants that are not terribly expensive.

You could easily walk down Charles street, through the commons, then on to Tremont Street directly into the South End. Check out Aunt Sadies, Hudson Home, Michelle Willey, Lekker Home,  Luc, Flock, Motley, Uniform and so many other great local stores.

    Have a great, relaxing day!

  • Silvertone on Bromfield Street (near Park Street/Beantown pub). Affordable and famous for their mac and cheese. Great martinis too!
  • Thanks a bunch! We have been to silvertone and loooved it! Since all of you keep raving about Charles street we are going to head there for sure! Thanks ladies..keep you posted!
