Hosting a Ladies Brunch

ok ladies,

I'm hosting an holiday brunch for some of my closest girl friends and my mom and a couple of her ladies. I'm just looking for some ideas about party favors. Is this necessary? what are some ideas of inexpensive but still great ideas? Food? Actual gift? Someone mentioned monogrammed wine glasses but that seems really expensive. Let me know what you think!

Re: Hosting a Ladies Brunch

  • A coffee mug for everyone? You get buy those at Target or Pier 1 for fairly cheap. Then go buy a box of hot chocolate packets and stick one in each.

Or $5 starbucks cards for each, but I am not sure how many people you have. That might get too expensive!

  • What would someone do with one wineglass or one coffee mug or a little plastic something?  Put it in the box to Goodwill.

I don't like favors because they serve no purpose.  You've already fed and entertained your guests at considerable expense; there's no need to give them anything else.  If you feel you just have to do something additional, make it edible - a little pouch of M&Ms, a pretty cookie.

Although at Christmas, if everyone celebrates, I will say Wal-Mart has a bunch of lovely $1 ornaments.  But be forewarned that people will probably forget them - MIL has been doing ornaments as place cards/favors for Christmas dinner for years and no one ever remembers to take them.

  • Hot cocoa is a good idea, or some flavored teas with tea cookies in a cute gift bag...

  • A canister of gourmet hot chocolate, peppermint bark, cinnamon scones, etc. Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Su la Table and other stores have great options.
  • I would find an inexpensive ornament (I love Crate and Barrels mini mercury glass ornaments) and I would make something like Ina's French Chocolate Bark and or a fun little cookie and wrap the bark or cookies in a clear cellophane bag wrapped with a pretty silk ribbon and tied with the small ornament. Simple, and relatively affordable.
  • You don't really need to do favors.  If you do decide to do them I say get ornaments (the $1 ones at WM are pretty cute) since it's a holiday brunch.

    yep, this...or tea bags

  • Usually I say edible, but this time of year there is so much edible sweets that blech.  Don't do one wine glass or one mug, it's a waste to everyone.  So I say either skip it or do an ornament.  Another random thought- since everyone will be wrapping stuff some tape, a few nice ribbons or bows, maybe one of those ribbon shredders?  Just something out there.

Oooh, I like this idea! Very useful.

I throw ornaments away....I'm very picky about what's on my tree so any I receive as a gift or whatnot just get tossed.

  • pook- instead of tossing please donate.  People are always looking for decorations.

This is a cute idea!  There's also fun tape that has print on it at Michael's and maybe those little nifty wrapping paper cutters.  Both very cheap and so useful!
  • We are hosting a table at our church's Christmas dinner, where you're "expected" to provide a favor because everyone else does. This year, we got the nice goat's milk fragrant soaps. Whether or not they'll be used, I don't know, but they smell great when you set them out on the table!
