Recommend your digital SLR camera! Need ideas!
Hi everyone,
I'm wanting to surprise BF with a new camera. He's been DYING for one and would be totally suprised. I want to get a Nikon....my faves are the D5000 and the D3000. Anybody have these and like them? Any other suggestions of ones to look at? Thanks!
Re: Recommend your digital SLR camera! Need ideas!
We bought an Olympus Evolt several years ago and we love it! I have also heard great things about the cannons.
We purchased the Canon Rebel T2i in September and we love it! Its very user friendly takes a great picture. We were sightseeing in October and ended up on the top of a 5000ft mountain, it was extremly windy and I couldn't steady the camera at all. All of our pictures came out perfectly.
We love that you can also take 1080p video with it as well (you will need a class 10 SD card to get true HD video).
I've heard great things about the Canon Rebel t2i. I put it on my Christmas list.
I won't be much help because I've only owned Canons, but you might want to ask over on the photography board: http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/7253063/ShowForum.aspx.
I found this review that compares the two (you've probably already seen it if you've been looking, but just in case): http://geekyweekly.com/2010/nikon-d90-vs-d5000-vs-d3000-which-one-is-right-for-you
Personally, if I were buying someone who was completely new to SLR shooting a camera, I would go with the lower-priced one. If he loves it, chances are good that he'll want to upgrade to something really nice in a few years anyways, and if it's not something he really gets into, you haven't spent a ton of money.
I'm also big on Canon. I feel like the shutter is smoother than Nikons....but maybe I'm just a snotty canoner. I have the Rebel XS, older and I love it.
I would recommend the Canon T2i, they've made soooo many updates and the rebel series is really great.
