Need ideas for adult slumber party

My girlfriend wants to do a slumber party for her b-day in a few weeks.  This will be about six 30 yo women.  Other than the obvious of truth or dare, any other fun ideas for activities?  I doubt they will all stay the night and might have to drive home to tend to kiddos.

We'll probably go with a black and hot pink theme (I already happen to have some GNO napkins) and I'll have to decide on the menu later.

First I need some inspiration/ideas to get the planning started.  She nixed the making sushi idea.  Here's other ideas I thought of:
- facials and makeovers
- chick flick with a menu of the same theme
- scavenger hunt (might be too cold to be out & about)
- fondue party
- wear old bridesmaid dresses & watch 27 dresses
- accessory or home decor swap ( so that one size fits all)
- learn a dance (I might be able to pay a friend's sister to come over ot teach us some moves)
BTW, none of us are interested in a Romance party for this occassion.
Any other ideas ladies???  Thanks in advance!

  • What about a psychic?

    What about a psychic?

Thanks, but I don't believe in them.

  • We have a sleepover every year for a friend's birthday (we've been friends since middle school so we had our 18th annual this year) and really all we need is food and alcohol.  We've done the chick flick thing, we've gone out to bars then come back for the sleepover, we've done make your own pizzas, wine tasting, spa night, etc but really we end up just drinking and chatting the whole time.

I'd avoid a theme and just have a fun but low-key activity.  Do they like to cook?  Maybe have everyone bring ingredients and make tapas together.  Do they drink?  Have lots of liquors and mixers on hand and have everyone create cocktails.

  • makeovers sound fun! You could take pic. afterwards. You could hire someone to come over to do mani/pedis?

Bring their fave board game to share? Scary movie theme? Knitting/ scrapbooking/ holiday cards/ ornament making/other crafts, plus drinking?

I don't like the dress idea- too uncomfortable to watch a movie in.

Good point about the comfort level.  Thanks, I hadn't thought of that.

Ditto.  If you want a "theme" you can just stick to a color theme like you suggested... plates, cups, napkins, maybe a simple happy bday banner.  You could send out invites/evites in the same color as well.

  • If you're all best friends, ditto the all your probably need is food, alcohol and chatting pp's have mentioned.  If you're all close with the birthday girl but not super close already, I could see needing some activities to at least get things started.  We did this for a friend's bachelorette and did a lot of the  things you mentioned in your op.  We did facials/manicures while a girly movie was on, made up a dance that we all did together at the wedding, and did a scavenger hunt the next morning on a run (quite a few of us run together... so we ran from clue to clue... on of the BM's set it up).  I agree with nixing the old BM dresses thing... that's only fun if you're wearing them out some where.  I think any of the other ideas sound great!
  • We've done this a couple times and don't get to much else besides drinking and gossiping with a movie on in the background.  I always buy an assortment of the latest magazines and tabloids to thumb through.

Though I've always wanted to have someone come in a do chair massages or a dance lesson or somehign like that.  Maybe next time.

    nothing

Well we aren't best friends but have been getting closer.
THanks everyone for the tips and points to think about.  We're going to go with fondue which itself is a bit of an activity and play some board games and truth or dare  and watch movies.  I like the suggestion of having some fun magazines on hand!  That'll be good to spark some interesting conversations.
I never actually went to a slumber party growing up so this is all new to me LOL.

  • I'm glad you already made your choice, bc I had no additional tips than the ones you listed, but I just wanted to say how much fun this sounds!!! Best of luck ... :D
