I need drugs

Is there any over the counter medicine I can take for stress/anxiety? Or even something medicinal? I drink herbal tea and it's not helping. Last night I had a glass of wine but thay didn't help either.

Re: I need drugs

  • This has absolutely nothing to do with your post but I saw your other one about a GP. We use Dr. David Bramm. He is great! We are always able to get an appt within an hour or two of calling to see what they have. His NP is also wonderful. And the great part...once you are there you never wait long. Good luck girl!

    Just googled and found this...

  • hmmm....i don't know...but i might suggest to drink another glass of wine. :)

i am sorry you are so anxious right now... :(

  • Yoga!  It does WONDERS!  I used to do it for anxiety.  If you've never done it before, you might feel silly at first, but it really does relax you.

  • Yes, like Celeste said working out REALLY does help and yoga/pilates are a great way to do this.  If you have DirectTV there is a FitTV channel and you could tape the yoga shows - I can't remember what they're called - Namaste?  The guy that does the show is kinda weird but good.

Also, if it continues (my sister had this prob) I'd ask your doctor further but I'm guessing it has a lot to do w/the stress you're under w/your dad, what happenned w/the kid the other day and everything else.  Just do your best to relax and I hope it gets better.  I've been there too.

    Thinking of you!!!!

  • Chamomile tea is a great remedy for nerves, as is chocolate (scientifically proven!). Just stay away from caffeine, it can exxagerate feelings of anxiety. Yoga is great for calming shaken up, anxiety ridden nerves and kick boxing is great for dealing with frustration and anger (feelings we all have during hardships like this)

I went through the same thing when we went through all we did with my dad : If things get worse emotionally for you, there is nothing wrong with going to your internist and telling him what's going on to see if he can perscribe you some anxiety meds to get you through this difficult time. You don't have to take them for the rest of your life.

  • I'm sorry about your dad.

Kava Kava -  my SIL actually slipped some to my BIL after they brought the twins home because he was such a nut job.

You can take melatonin to help you sleep.

Peppermint tea is also supposed to soothe and relax you.

  • Thanks ladies! I really appreciate all of your help.
