mailing gifts to teenagers

I am looking for creative ways to send my niece and nephew their Christmas gifts.  I am ok with sending them $$ or a gift card so they can buy what they want.  My niece gave me a few ideas, but my nephew just got a car so he needs gas $$.  lol   Does anyone have any ideas besides just sending them $.  A cute way to package it maybe?  Thanks

Re: mailing gifts to teenagers

  • When I was a teenager, my aunt got me a Mobil Go Card, which is basically a prepaid gas station credit card.  I LOVED it more than I can say.

As for packaging, I am no help.

  • they sell tons of gift card boxes now that you could use. Look around in the wrapping paper department. Look for some that are more than just a box with a lid.

I have some that slide out to reveal the card.

  • Well I once got a maze that i had to complete in order to get the money out.  I cheated though and figured out if i dropped it that it would open.  My aunt also got a bunch on ones and fives and tapped them together then rolled them into a ball and put them in this box labele money box.  She finds the craziest things lol.

  • What if you bought them a small gift, but then send money/gift cards too. When my nephew turned 16, we bought him a tire gauge and a gas gift card. You could also do a roadside emergency kit or flashlight or something similar with a gift card. For your niece, by her a cute accessory and then a gift card.
  • You could put the gift card into a new wallet or cute change purse or something like that. I've also seen stuffed animals that have a place to hold a gift card.

  • Last Christmas, my sister bought our brother a bunch of tools that everyone should have (he was moving out on his own, so things like a hammer, screw driver, etc) so I got him a cheap tool box and filled it with 100 $1.00 bills.
  • One year for my birthday, a friend got a plain container with a screw-on lid (think Tupperware but cheaper)...Used a paint pen to write my name and happy birthday and then filled it with my favorite candy. To finish it off, she rolled up 25 $1 bills, taped each one to stay, and put them in too...shook it all up and the money was all mixed it. It was fun and cute and probably one of my favorite gifts :)
