Seriously?

So I am getting over the whole water in my basement issue.  things are drying out and we may have salvaged the carpet.  Woohoo!

But.........DH goes into the home office tonight to get a comforter out of a space bag in my closet in the office.  He yells "hey, uh, honey?"  I go to see what he wants.  The ceiling in my closet is coming down, the plaster is all coming down.  The wall has a crack and peeling plaster.  Everything is wet and moldy.  AAAGGHH!!!  We don't go into that closet often so had no idea we had a water issue there.  Everything else in the office seems fine.

Now, stuff in the closet I will lose to mold:  all of my fabrics and other craft supplies, curtain, blankets, pillows, clarinet, and saxophone.  GRRRRRRRRR!!!  I haven't pulled everything out to see what else is in the closet,

  • I know I'm new here, but DH works for a company that does mold remediation out of Lansing and they'll travel anywhere. From all of the stories I've heard, I know how devistating mold can be, especially if left untreated.

If you haven't already, you really need to get someone in there to take a look. Not only so you don't lose any more of your posessions, but for your family's health as well.

That really sucks though....I wish you the best!

  • Those guys work fast!  They cleaned out the mold quickly.  They cut out the section of carpet that was wet and set up a dehumidifier.  We have to ge the roof checked/repaired where things leaked.  Then the plaster will be replaced in the closet an all of the carpet pulled out.  Fortunately, there are hardwoods in the room and hopefully they look as good as they do in the rest of the house.

Lindsay....I played clarinet/bass clarinet from 6th grade on up.  I also played baritone saxophone in jazz band in grade 12.  Our band traveled to Europe the year I graduated and competed in a youth in music festiva in Vienna, Austria which we won.  It was amazing!
