How did Thanksgiving turn out?

well, aside from tossing my cookies when trying to prepare the stuffing at 8am (oops)... it went well for the most part.

BIL and fam were fine on Wednesday night, except he was sick and now I'm terrified I'm going to catch whatever he hacking the entire time ... Our neice is def in her acting out stage, but she wanted to see me most on wednesday and play with me, so I didn't get too much of the whininess... on Thursday I just hung in the kitchen so they'd stay out of my way.

When P's mom and brothers arrived we decided to give our mom's the gifts (my mom got there earlier)... MIL read the note first (my mom was still flipping the box over trying to take it out of the bag) and gasped then started talking about these new tubs... this frazzled my mom and she was trying to read, but looking around confused, it was actually funny... she's such an airhead.  It took her a good minute to figure out that "...your 1st grandchild! Baby C" meant we are expecting, LOL.

The annoying part was BIL1's reaction.  My two other BILs were excited, but BIL1 just sat there.  I know him and his wife had trouble conceiving our neice and are having trouble again (yet they are living with friends and don't have a house - another story for another day)... but we are family.  We aren't neighbors or okay friends.... it would have been nice for him to get off the couch and hug us and say congratulations.  I do have a ton of sympathy for them, but this isn't about them.  It was just disappointing that he couldn't show excitement that his DD is going to get a cousin and that he's going to have his first neice/nephew.... only when they left did he hug us and say thank you for letting them stay there and congratulations.

 

and the food/meal was fantastic... I got rave reviews again from P's two other brothers and they are picky eaters so that thrills me

Aw, your mom is cute.

Sucks about BIL, you'd hope he'd just be happy for you guys.  Oh well.

Glad your party turned out good, and that your moms loved the gifts! That's really cute about your mom, haha. Too bad BIL reacted like that, but that shouldn't make the news and occasion any less happy for you guys anyway.

I've been out of town, but was just scanning through posts seeing if you had updated on how the big announcement went.   I'm so glad it went well, it must have been so fun to share the news with everyonee together!

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad that the meal and everything turned out ok. The announcement story is awesome, especially with your mom's reactions. BIL's reaction sucks, but I'm glad that everyone else was super excited for you.

That totally sounds like my mom, but she might have figured it out before anyone opened anything. So glad everyone was super excited. Not so glad that you had to toss your cookies on thanksgiving. Hopefully that subsides a little to give you a break.

Snoopy... its funny, my m/s was horrendous from 4wks up until early last week, then it just started to get "better"... still there, but not as bad... or I'm just becoming used to it (?).  Either way, I felt great Wed, the rest of the day on Thurs, and for most of wkd.... so weird that it happened, but ehh, oh well.... at least I was home and not at work
