Holiday Airport Experience

I know last week (or maybe it was the week before) there was talk about the TSA screenings. Traveling through Oklahoma airport is still the same right now. No scans yet but coming home from Texas we did have to go through them. Well DH did anyways. Since I was traveling with M in tow all we had to do was walk through the metal dectors. No pat downs for us. DH said the scanners were not bad. I actually did not see anyone get patted down. (although I didn't see anyone opt out of the scans either)

Re: Holiday Airport Experience

  • I went through a scanner in Dallas a few months ago. Not a huge deal to me, personally. First, the images aren't like naked photographs. Second, if for some reason it ever did get all over the internet, I don't think even I would know it was me. Third, they're there for our protection, and I'm all for that.

I understand why some people are against them... but personally I could care less. It's not like they're asking me to strip down in the middle of the airport.

  • so do they not want kids to go through it?  H is flying in a few weeks and he said he doesn't want to go through the scanners.  He also said when he went to take off his belt and put his wallet in the container he would just take off everything though...

I believe babies or little kids do not have to go through the scanners. I tried to find so source to back me up on that but couldn't find anything.

I know that they require you to take everything out of your pockets along with your belt and shoes when you go through. I think you only get the pat down if you set off the scanner or if you opt out.

  • I've been through a scanner a few times before. The most annoying part was taking everything (tissues, Blistex, etc) out of my pockets for it. I'd much rather go through the scanner than have some stranger patting me down.
