Spots on Ceiling

Hello All.

In our bathroom, we get these brownish/yellow spots on our ceiling. Its almost like its dirty water in droplets on the ceilings?! Does anyone else have this issue or know how I can get rid of it. I have washed them off before, but they are getting worse and worse, and I really don't want to wash our ceiling once a week!

TIA

Re: Spots on Ceiling

  • It sounds like mold to me. Is there a lot of humidity in the bathroom? When I lived at home our bathroom ceiling used to get the spots even if we used the exhaust fan all of the time.

Bleach can keep the spots from coming back for a while, but I'd make sure you're always running the exhaust fan when you're taking a shower and leave it on for a while afterwards.

  • I have the same thing in my bathroom. It is just the water pooling on the ceiling (I think the browny/yellow colour comes from the paint) just give it a good wipe down and make sure your bathroom is well ventilated when having a shower. Our bathroom doesn't have a vent so we leave the door open.
  • It is the beginning of mildew.Wash the ceiling with a bleach solution-1 cup bleach to 1 gallon water Open a window and run exhaust fan while showering..
