Just had my yearly review

My boss only manages me, so it was a very informal review. I passed with flying colors and I meet or exceed all expectations. I was offered this job last December when the person who had this job for 16 years moved out of state. My boss and her had worked very well together so it took some time for me and my boss to get into a groove. It has been a learning process this year and I think my boss was really surprised at how well I learned everything. I have also been able to do more a lot more HR & Accounting than the previous person.

The HR Manager was not able to add anything to the review since I technically do not report to him but I know he is extremely thrilled with my work. He just gave me some additional HR duties that would normally stay with him. The review wasn't surprising, but always nice to hear that she loves my work. I just wish a raise went with it.

I wish I knew. I know they are looking for a new investor to be a silent partner. From what I understand this is the second year they haven't done raises. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that 2 years ago they went from being a family owned company to a huge corporate enterprise and the NJ headquarters would rather hire than do a pay raise.

  • Well that sucks, especially if you're doing such a great job.  They're basically paying you less each year if you take inflation into account.  Hopefully they'll wise up soon!

  • Good job! Sorry about not getting a raise, but hopefully they will compensate you in the future.
