Ladies who've had IF issues welcome
Hey Ladies,
I've lurked and posted on both GP and TTTC. Honestly, 3T scares the poop out of me.
I know there are several ladies on this board who have dealt with infertility issues, so I'm hoping to start here.
I've been on BCP since my PCOS Dx, and am now ready to get off it. I'll see my OBGYN next week, and she mentioned (because I wasn't ovulating) that we could do clomid when I was ready.
Can anyone recommend any questions or things to discuss with her in deciding what road to take? I had blood work done with my Dx and my LH was fine.
Thanks for your help- like I said 3T scares me to death.
Re: Ladies who've had IF issues welcome
I recommend asking about having an HSG done, if you previously have had one done before many REs repeat them every 1-2 years.
I'll send you some more questions on FB.
I spent almost 2 years on the IF/TTTC boards- they really arent that bad and can be very helpful acutally. I couldnt have made it through my IF without those women!!
Unless you've had all the testing done (SA, HSG, CD 3 and CD 21 b/w) and its going to be fully moitoered with u/s's- I would never do clomid with a OBGYN. For example: if you get cycsts (which I am sure you do with PCOS) all clomid does is aggravate them, and cause them to grow larger which can utlimately cause your ovary to twist. So thats why it is SO important to be fully monitored even while on clomid. I once had a cycle cancelled due to a peach sized cyst that I never would have known about if it werent for that CD 3 us proir to starting the clomid.
So yes, ask if its going to be fully monitored and how many rounds would you do before moving to a RE.
I replied to Mrs.Nolans post below with my RE. Best of luck to you, but yes you want to be fully informed going in!!

In addition to the above suggestions, your husband should be tested. Over half of fertility issues are due to either male factors alone or a combination of male-female factors. GL to you.
My favorite support board is and has been GP they've been a wonderful source of both information and support. I started TTC the beginning of 2009. Only after we began testing did we learn we had MFI. so a combonation of uroligy appointments and the help of an RE finally got us to our goal of a BFP. Its a long process.
My OB told us to start with a SA and I pushed to get the ball rolling on testing me. The first thing we did on me was an HSG and only after that along with the blood work on CD3. Did they perscribe any meds. But I was monitored all along both with blood draws and U/S. I wouldn't go on Clomid unless they are planning to monitor you. For the most part an RE is much better about this than an OB/GYN in my opinion. It is after all they're specialty and my OB/GYN actually suggested I use one. Good thing too because we needed an IUI to become PG. my RE was very through as well.
Good luck to you. I know it's not an easy process but we're all here for you and cheering you on. Get as much information as you possibly can. I know it helped me once we had a solid plan in place.
We're going to ARMS on the 13th! If you don't mind me asking do you know who you're going to be seeing?
I would second what some of the other girls have already said about probably doing and HSG and S/A. You could take all the clomid in the world but if your tubes are blocked or there's a problem with DH's swimmers it won't do any good. Monitoring while on clomid is important to keep an eye out for over stimulation.
I'm curious, you said your bw came back with your LH being fine, does your dr have any thoughts on why you might not be ovulating?
Feel free to PM me anytime if you want to talk.
This is one thing I have really liked so far. Have fun filling out the 22 pages of new patient paperwork. That was a bit of a PITA.
I'm going back Jan 3rd myself...although not sure if/when we will ever do treatments again. Its just more of "where can we go from here" appt. if we do TTC another.
GL to you girls- I was under ARMS care for a long time and never had any bad experiences there. All the Dr's are great (moffits a little dry, although still good) but Dr. J is my personal fav

Jennifer:
I used ARMS myself and my second IVF took, and was both high risk due to a medical disorder and AMA. I really liked them, especially the shorter male (I forgot his name). The famale doc is good too, but they were all very fun to work with. Wishing you luck!
Yay! Good luck at your appointment!
(((HUGS)))
And crossing everything for a good appointment!!
We know from previous testing that the only way to conceive with my husband's sperm is via IVF with ICSI. I was going to go to ARMS until I saw their statistics, which did not give me much confidence and were lower than many other clinics in the area.
Has anyone been to Advanced Fertility Care. I know statistics can be manipulated in many ways, but they show over 60% success with IVF.
