Do you like the Beatles?
A coworker came in while I was listening to the Beatles and said she never really liked them. I don't even know how to respond to that, and I'm actually feeling oddly annoyed. Probably because she prefers Kenny G and Michael McDonald.

What Buddha said. Historically I can see how groundbreaking they were, and some of the songs are of the "hey, that's pretty good variety" but not "oh my god I LOVE THIS SONG." It's cliched but Imagine will always be a classic. (ETA: yes, this is not legit Beatles, just John by himself, but I do not give him the credit that he thought he deserved to be considered anything but "a guy in the Beatles")
HT, I think I agree with your preferences. The early days, while more clean-cut, sounded less produced and had a more Elvis-inspired rockabilly sound to them.

I'm pretty Beatles ignorant. My parents were nerds who listened to bands like Peter, Paul & Mary, so I wasn't really exposed to their music. Not to say that I never heard their stuff -- I just didn't know it was theirs. Like I don't think I became aware that Twist & Shout is a Beatles song until a few years ago (just never thought about who sang it before). I'm having the same experience with the Rolling Stones.
I like The Beatles and have a few of their songs on my iPod. I plan on downloading more eventually. I just hate buying stuff from iTunes. I prefer to get my MP3s from Amazon.

My H and I first bonded over our mutual adoration of the Beatles and belief that they are the greatest band ever. Their music transcends genre and time, and their talents seemingly limitless.
I sing Beatles songs to Miles all the time.
He bought me the White Album our first Christmas together. So he can stay. I'm tolerant of his disability.

I like some of their songs, I guess more of the earlier stuff. I don't have any on my mp3 player, but I wouldn't necessarily change the channel if it came on the radio. I do respect their place in music history though.

LOVE the Beatles. It's the kind of music that feels like home to me. Across the Universe has a special place in my relationship with Mike, it reminds me of when we first started dating. I'm also partial to George's solo stuff.
My best friend in high school was an artist and did a pencil/pastel drawing of the Beatles for me as a graduation present, the background has images representing different songs. I love it. I need to dig that out and hang it in my office.
The Harrison Beatles songs are generally my favorite. I love Norwegian Wood so very much.

In college, I named my first computer "George" bc of Harrison. I love his stuff.
My HS yearbook quote was from the Beatles song "Within You Without You".
My favorite Beatles albums are: Revolver, Rubber Soul, St. Pepper, Some key songs on the White Album, and the whole b side of Abbey Road.
I also was named after a Beatles song.

I don't get being annoyed that someone doesn't like a band you like. In fact, I prefer people not to like things I like. It makes me more specialer.
I would normally agree that I don't get annoyed when someone doesn't like a band I like, but COMMON, it's the Beatles. You almost have to intentionally will yourself to not like them. At least SOMETHING of theirs.

I hate Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen so freaking much though. Stupid New Jersey.
Also, I don't "get" U2.
I will ditto on the Sinatra, Bon Jovi, and Springsteen.
I love old U2 though. I like to pretend that anything after 2000 never happened (except for Magnificent because those world cup commercials were amazing).

i love them very much, thank you. i can appreciate all their various phases as well, in different ways. my favorite albums are in the middle, though, especially rubber soul and revolver.
there just seems to be a beatles song that goes with any occasion.
a couple weekends ago we picked up a george harrison solo best of type cd and it solidified for me that he is my favorite beatle.
I've always been meh on Bruce Springsteen, but my ex LOVES him, so now I hate him. It's only fair. I do love Bon Jovi.
