Awful

So my brother and SIL bought a new house a few months ago because the area they were in was awful. There had been several shootings on their street and in their area and it was crime ridden - not as bad when they bought the house 5 years ago. They moved to this really nice little town closer to San Francisco that has a very low crime rate and bought an awesome house.

Well... their house got broken into and everything was stolen. They took their laptops, tvs, video camera, cameras, SIL's grandmother's jewelry, birth certificates, passports, other documents... you name it, it's gone. They also took my nephew to Disneyland a few weeks ago and all the video of him was stolen as it was on the video camera and on the laptops.  Their house was ransacked, their doors broken. Just terrible. They live on a cul-de-sac too, and it just seems a bit weird to me because surely someone would have seen all this going on. The location of their house isn't exactly hidden if someone were to be taking all this stuff out.

Hopefully they can get everything sorted and put flags on their credit in case of identity theft. I just feel so awful for them.

Re: Awful

  • That is awful and I agree that surely someone saw something as it seems they would have been there for a little while stealing stuff like that.

I do hope that they can catch these theives. I just don't understand what this world is coming to somedays.

Did they have any kind of insurance that covers their stuff? I know they can't get back those memories, but hopefully they can replace a few things. Yes they need to put flags on everything, especially those passport and documents.
