H gave me his wish list and I've been over it a million times. He has a ton of different games on there for either the CPU or the Wii. I've passed on two of the CPU games to my SIL for his bday gift. I don't want to give him anymore incentive to play games all day so those two should be enough, however I'm sure either set of our parents may do more as well since 95% of his wish list has some kind of video/cpu game. The other 5% is snowboarding stuff and I'm not spending the kind of money on the stuff he wants; its outrageous!
Here's what I know for sure I'm getting him:
- Wii Fit w/ the Balance Board.
- Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage game for Wii.
- Cook's Knife at Sur La Table.
I want one more good gift idea. He has plenty of clothes and I'm not even indulging his incredibly annoying and expensive beyond belief habit of snowboarding. He is a professional chef so anything there should be a good help. He is a reader, but doesn't have much time for it between work & school. I'm not big on g/c b/c I feel like they are little impersonal. TIA!
Re: Xmas Gift Help!
The Fluffy Cat says... "Boxes are the best toys ever invented!"
He does, yes and we already have the Guiness pint glasses. But that was a good thought!
I honestly don't mind that he likes to play them. I really enjoy being able to play video games (the ones I like) with him and its fun.
What I don't like, however, is that he is home a lot more than I am b/c of his schedule and he ends up spending the.entire.day playing games and doing NOTHING around the house. Its okay now and then, but they get sucked into these games and "lose" all track of time and there is no compromise b/c by the time I come home, he's long gone and I'm stuck doing the things he could've helped on ya know?
I completely understand! its consumes him! I especially hate that games that can't pause....so basically everything else goes on out the door! O well atleast he doesn't like to watch sports!
I'm with you on this one! I don't that I could handle ALL that. hehe
I'm no help on presents but my DH is a gamer and loves sports! Thank goodness I like most sports but sometimes its a little much with both obsessions.
YES!!! I get annoyed mostly when H gets home before me, I get home from work and he's playing a video game. I'm in the kitchen cooking dinner and he's playing the game the whole time. And then sometimes he won't even go to the kitchen and get himself a plate of food because....he's playing the game!!
And the games where you can't save it whenever you want are annoying because he's going, "Hold on, honey....let me get to a place where I can stop and save it...."
As for your H, let me do some thinking and see if I can figure something out....
I know it's a little sneaky but is there something you could get for him that it would take attention away from the TV/PC?
Maybe a small trip, or an "outing" bowling, ice skating, rock climbing, etc. I'm not sure if any of those would be interesting to him... Or if he likes sports you could get him tickets to a game or a jersey/shirt.
Just a thought..
Good luck in your search!
Here, I know he bikes; these might help:

One of the sites suggests a Garmin 305 GPS. I don't know how serious he would be about tracking the miles he rides, or how much you're looking to spend, but they're around $120 on Amazon right now (which is a really good deal!)
(Also, the 305 is great for runners.....I've dropped the hint to my huz, but if he asks anyone what to get me, feel free to refresh his memory
)
To build on this random thought, what about a home brewing kit?
Another thought, if he likes TV but you think he spends too much time doing it, perhaps get a TIVO subscription or parts for him to build his own computer DVR. That's what my hubby did as a gift for himself...he built his own which gave him something fun to do and also now, he gets back 20 mins of his life per 1 hour show
