How's attorney life treating you? I was curious if you had any connections to some firms this side of Worcester. I'm actually in western mass, but I'd go all the way to Worcester for something worthwhile. I think I've used up all of my contacts on this side of the state. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Snoop, attorney life is pretty much sucking here - as I'm sure you're aware, there are very few jobs for new or newish attorneys out there - at least in MA.  I didn't have a job lined up when I graduated in '09 and couldn't find anything for several months, but finally landed a contract gig last December which is still where I'm at.  I'm constantly looking for something more permanent.  So I really don't have any real firm connections, but I might recommend checking out some of the staffing agencies for contract gigs - projects vary in length (from days to years) but the pay is decent.  Check out Update Legal, Special Counsel, and Beacon Hill Staffing, they may have some stuff in Worcester or Springfield.  I will ask the people with my agency if they ever staff projects out in the west of the state.

I did ask Update Legal if they ever staff projects outside the Boston area, and they said that while most of the projects are in this area, they do indeed get projects in other parts of the state, and encouraged you to send in your resume and stuff.  Feel free to PM me if you'd like. 

 I will say that it may not be the best job to take if it means you'd be giving up good benefits with your current job while you're TTC (I remember we had this conversation before.)  I have to pay for my own health insurance, and there are no benefits like maternity leave or anything - but it's actual attorney work, the pay is decent, and hours are often flexible, so that's at least something!

I would want something more permanent as well, other than just contract work. I looked into Beacon Hill. They come across lawjobs.com a lot. I guess I'll just keep my eyes open. I can send you a few links that I get through my law school job hiring website. They're mostly for Boston, which is frustrating for me, but would work great for you. Thanks for the info!
