Tacky Sweater Christmas Party

I so want to host a Tacky Sweater Christmas Party ! ! ! !

Obviously, everyone would wear a ugly holiday sweater, but what else could be done?

Food, games, etc ..... any suggestions?!?!

Anybody gone to one of these parties?

I would love to find some sweater looking invitations too .... how fun would that be?!!?!

Re: Tacky Sweater Christmas Party

  • I saw a free online ugly sweater designed invite on punchbowl.com earlier today.  It was really cute!  Made me debate throwing one myself but I decided to do just a plain old holiday party, like usual.
  • You might be a little late on this one.  It's already December and the month books up early.  Unless you tie it to NYE or a little later winter party you may be SOL this year.

boo... I was afraid of that. My friend said she would help plan it, so we are going to brainstorm tomorrow. I dont think I will do invites, maybe just FB invites!!?!?!? Hmmmmmmm... Crap!

  • I  love this idea.  I'm definitely going to blog about this.  I don't understand why it's too late to have one.  Are you booking it somewhere special?  I don't think your SOL.  Humm.... I would think you play silly games- board games, charades, and pictionary. For drinks, do red and green drinks and jello shots.  Have everyone bring a tacky gag gift or white elephant. Then draw names out of a hat for the gifts. Invites are so cute for these events.

Every person I know has every weekend booked between now and mid January.  The holidays are busy and people have parties and family obligations.

  • I'm having an ugly sweater party this year. We're doing dinner, desserts, and drinks...and maybe games/poker later in the night.

We are going to take "family portraits" - I'm going to put up an ugly plastic Christmas backdrop and have everyone take funny family portrait style pictures. I bought some raindeer antler headbands and some with bouncy Santa's. Should be pretty silly, and super silly after all of the tasty beverages:)

  • We're hosting one on Friday! It will be a regular party with apps, drinks and games. We're also putting up a sign by the drinks that asks everyone to vote for the tackiest male and female sweaters. Winners get an ornament and an Old Navy gift card.

That is such a great idea!  You're sure to get some tacky photos once you start making up families.  LOL, sorry I can't help but picture my circle of friends and how we'd totally go overboard with this one.  Fun!  If you can, have a printer available to print the pics for your guests to take one home.
  • I decided to have one too! I was also kinda late, I wanted to mail out invites but just went the FB route. It was much easier that way, then you can keep track of, immediately, who will be attending. I just sent mine out on Monday and a lot of people have already rsvpd. I'd say if you still would like to have one, send out some sort of evite asap.

  • We go to a Holiday Sweater Party every year.  There is usually an ugly sweater contest (everybody puts their vote in a hat and votes are tallied) and a White Elephant gift exchange.

  • These are so great ladies! Thanks so much!

I seriously thought of a "photobooth" type deal, and the ugliest sweater male/female game is AWESOME!!! I love they win a prize too!!! I might steal this idea!!! :D

I'm going to try to make it work, wish me luck!!!

  • The fake family portrait idea is genius!!  I so wish we had thought of that last year when my office had an ugly sweater party.  You guys will have a great time.
  • My friend threw one last year, it was a lot of fun!

We had an ugly sweater contest, where we all voted anonymously for the most hideous sweater. The person with the ugliest sweater won some ugly/ridiculous christmas decoration. We also did a white elephant gift exchange....which was also hilarious. And we did the awkward family portraits by the tree. It was super fun. I'm disappointed they didn't do it again this year!
