So Inappropriate

My male co-worker is talking about a movie that has rape and mutilation in it as I walk right by him.  He obviously sees me coming but that doesn't deter him from talking about it.  That is so freaking inappropriate.  As a male in the workplace you don't talk about that near a female.

  • Talking about it, as in he thought it was awesome?  Or talking about it, as in...just talking about it in general?  I don't necessarily find it inappropriate if he was just mentioning it as part of a movie plot, but otherwise, yeah...men and the no filter thing.

  • This is just the tip of the iceberg.  I have to hear his remarks about so and so is f*****g the dog.  WTF?!?!  Like I really want to hear that.

  • It really is too bad that common courtesy is being forgotten in today's day and age. It wouldn't have been even an issue even 50 years ago. It just wasn't done.

  • My coworkers and I have definitely had conversations about movies with rape in them before.  We talk pretty loudly in the lunchroom, and while it's obvious that we are disturbed by seeing it in movies, I suppose people walking by might be offended.  I guess I don't see this particular instance as being 'so inappropriate'.
