Can you use one of their share sites or share each album through email?
I'm not sure if you are looking to delete them from the original account if that would screw up the sharing. The downloading and uploading thing sounds time consuming but definitely a way to ensure you don't lose the pics.
When I wanted to move a large number of pics between 2 different sites, I ordered a CD and then only uploaded the ones that I wanted to use to the new account.
