Need gift ideas

I'm looking for something unique for my little sister no more than $30. We don't talk much so I know what she likes, really. Which makes it hard to get something. I don't like to give gift certificates for Christmas...like them to have something to open...

She's 20, works as a receptionist at a dental office, and is going to school (just gen eds...no degree program chosen yet).

Re: Need gift ideas

  • I know how you feel - my brothers are quite hard to shop for. Is there a family member who might be able to help you out? parents, another sibling that she's close to?

Otherwise, maybe something for her desk at work, a nice picture frame or something like that.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

  • I love Oprah...you could always check out her "favorite things" list.  A lot of times she has pretty economical items there:

And this site from GMA is all about holiday gift ideas too:

Do you know if your sis is into anything like nature...maybe something from National Geographic or Discovery???  My brother has a saltwater fish tank and last year I got him a subscription to "Coral" magazine.  He loved it.

  • How about a cute new wallet or sunglasses?

I do like the magazine subscription idea.  The gift that keeps on giving!

  • What about a few nail polishes, a cute nail file, and a nice hand cream? I love stuff for my hands in the winter because they tend to get so dry!
  • What about a wristlet, or a cute makeup or travel bag? I just received a wristlet as a gift and I love it... my MOH actually bought it for me while we were shopping at Kohl's together for about $18. A couple of years ago my MIL gave me a makeup bag from DSW that's supercute, something I never would have bought myself, but I love it.
  • Last year for my SIL, (we are not great pals) I gave her a cute little make-up bag with a nail polish, nail file, small lotion, small body-spray and cute hair clip.  Easy.
