One of the student interns in my office sent this to me yesterday ... it's casting info for a reality show in Norway about Americans with Norwegian ancestry ... apparently you have to participate in "cultural challenges", whatever that means. There are links to clips from last season show which show them eating rommegrot (which I don't like, but it's not the worst thing ever), and learning to speak Norwegian. Doesn't seem so bad.
Anyway ... since I know there are lots of people on here who are of Norwegian decent, maybe someone is interested in applying? I don't think I'd be a very good reality show contestant, although getting to spend up to 6 weeks in Norway on someone else's dime sounds pretty cool.
Here's the link.
Re: The Great Norway Adventure
That was in our newspaper here yesterday
I think it sounds like a blast! The only reason I would never consider it is they eat a LOT of fish over there and I can not stand fish! When we went over there 3 years ago I ate a LOT of rommegrot and lefse! lol I do speak *some* Norwegian, but NOT much. Enough where I feel I could pick it up if I had to.
I have a relative over there who is a member of parliament so we stayed at one of his homes in the countryside and it was amazing! (Olaf has like 6 homes, 1 in Spain, 2 in Norway, 1 in Switzerland, 1 in New York City and I forget where the other one is.)
well...that and leaving my grandson for that long would KILL me!
Oooh how exciting! I'm 50% Norwegian (and 50% Swedish) but I would NEVER be gutsy enough to do that!
I forwarded it to my friend who WOULD be gutsy enough to do it. :-) She lived in Norway for a year and is completely fluent...I wonder if that would hurt her chances? They probably want people to be more "clueless" :-)
The videos of the show are funny. :-)
Yeah, I'm not gutsy enough either. I loved my trip to Norway, but I got to bring my husband along. Not being able to even email anyone in the States would be really hard for that length of time.
And I'm way too easily annoyed by clueless people to be on any reality show.
