Your Best Hair Colorist....

I am looking to lighten my hair a little more than I normally do and want to have a very good colorist to do the change. Can you reccomend your colorist? I live in the N.W. Suburubs, but would be willing to go into the city for someone who can make someone with dark brown hair look natural with dark blonde!

Thanks!

  • Hi! I use Trish at Salon Blue in Wicker Park/Bucktown area.  It is right off of north ave.  She has been doing hair for some 11 + years and is super knowledgeable about the product and your hair.  I am a darker brown normally and have a medium blonde color now.  The salon also uses the ammonia free color which is way better for your hair.

  • I've been seeing Jessie at XeX Salon downtown for about a year now and love her!

My natural hair is a light fugly brown.  She did honey blonde highlights and low lights and then in the summer we took it to light blonde highlights and honey.

Just this week I went back to honey w/low lights.  I cannot say enough good things about her.

She's $130 for full highlights, but after going to mediorce places before, I think it's totally worth it.

  • Since you are willing to drive into the city, I would suggest going to Pamela at Brilli Salon (Ashland & Belmont).  She is simply the best colorist I have been to - city or 'burbs - and I have been to A LOT trying to find one that was worth the money.  She is worth every stinking penny.

  • I've been going to Terra at The Circle Salon in Wicker Park.  I love the color she mixed for me, and the salon is totally green... my hair actually smells *good* afterward (no ammonia!)  There are coupons on their website.
  • James Anthony Salon and Day Spa in River Forest (right by Oak Park). Ask for Tina. She is THE best. I promise you won't leave disappointed.

If you are looking for an inexpensive option, look up Paul Mitchell The School Chicago (it's on Halsted) and you can get hair cuts and color for realllly cheap. It's a great place. Depending on the level of experience you want will determine how much it is. Since it's a 'school' you will be there for a few hours so be prepared for that.
