Update on DH

We finally heard back from the dr.  An acceptable range for his meds is 10-40.  His was 12.  Which is acceptable but he had the seizure Friday and couldn't get tested until Monday.  So its very likely that its dipped below the safe level.  The dr. is making him go on Name brand meds.  He thinks this will help regulate his numbers even better.  Thank you all for you T and P's and inquiries!  Hopefully he will go a long time with no more seizures!

Re: Update on DH

  • Glad to hear that he's okay, Lauren!

Like I said in pp, I think some generics just don't cut it.  I'm back on my name brand (only in my 2nd week) and I can already feel/tell a HUGE difference, so I will keep you guys in my thoughts that was what the cause was.  Hugs!!

  • Glad it seems to be a simple answer.  Just as an FYI- one of our employee's had to be on name brands. Our insurance typically wouldn't cover them because there is a "comparable" generic.  However, with a letter from the doctor and some arguing, they finally agreed.  In our conversation with the insurance, it was mentioned numerous times that nuerology/ epilepsy is pretty widely accepted as the exception to the "generics are comparable" rule.  Also, pointing out the costs they would incur *if* you were on generics and *if* something were to happen...paying for brand name drugs is in their better interest.  I hope you don't have to even try to fight them, but wanted to give you a heads up just in case.

Thanks!  They were trying to fight us but the Dr. contacted the insurance company and was able to get it squared away!  Thank goodness.  They were trying to charge us a huge price for the name brand!  I sometimes hate insurances companies!  Thanks for the heads up!

  • No problem.  I'm glad it wasn't a huge battle.  Insurance companies can be so ridiculous!!
