This is so stupid, but I don't know which one is more polite, or correct. stupid like I should know the answer to this question.
I am e-mailing the Dr I work for and asking him to have his wife (who is also a Dr) to witness a paper that he needs to sign.
When I speak to him face-to-face I refer to her, as "his wife", but should I do the same in an e-mail?
For some reason it just doesn't seem "right" to me. I feel like I should address her as Dr. last name in an e-mail. Even though I don't refer to her like that when I speak to him, but maybe I should?
If I was a Dr I would probably want to be referred to as Dr ..I didn't go to school for 15yrs to be referred to as someone's wife, KWIM?
Re: Help. Which one do I use.
This reminds my of my speech professor. Her husband was a medical doctor. She had many many degrees. She was tired of being called Mrs. Dr Husband?s last name. So what did she do? She created her very own last name and paid money to legally change it.
In this situation, I think calling her ?his wife? would be appropriate.
I love my crazy child!
My Bio
Lauren,
No, they do not have the same last name.. She kept her name. It took me a little while to figure out she was his wife bc they don't have the same last name.
I decided not to e-mail him- I'll just ask him on Monday and he can take the paperwork home. solves that problem.
