Here's the long version:
Vote for Forest Park and the Wildwood TrailVote now for the Wildwood Trail and The Forest Park Conservancy's Day of Stewardship.
The time has come to VOTE! No, we are NOT talking about the presidential election (though we hope you will be casting a vote there as well). We are talking about an opportunity for you to help us do some important trail work without leaving the comfort of your home!
The Forest Park Conservancy has been selected as one of twenty finalists in the American Hiking Society's Save the Trails grant program.
American Hiking Society and Nature Valley have teamed up to grant a total of $50,000 to organizations across the country working on trail projects that enhance the hiking experience, all part of American Hiking Society's annual National Trails Fund grant. Twenty finalists have already been selected for the Save the Trails grant program, including your very own Forest Park Conservancy.
Now it is up to you to help ensure that the Wildwood Trail remains in good condition for the next generation of hikers. Winning projects will be chosen by online public vote. We need your help!
Please take a moment to learn more about the Forest Park Conservancy's project and cast your vote. Voting will close at the end of October. Here are just a few reasons why your vote is so important to us at the Conservancy:
- The Wildwood Trail comprises 30.2 miles of Forest Park's 70+ miles of trails.
The Forest Park Conservancy funds a full-time seasonal trail crew to the keep the trails clear and in good working condition.
Funds from the Save the Trails grant will be directed toward our September 2009 Day of Stewardship, which many of you recently experienced firsthand.
Please forward this on to friends, family and other supporters of Forest Park - and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thanks for your help.
